What to expect on te Krabi Elephant house sanctuary tour
The tour starts with a free transfer from your hotel in Krabi town, Ao Nang or Klong Muang. Your driver will greet you at the hotel reception. Next is a 30 minute ride around the scenic Phang Nga Bay area towards Ao Leuk, a small town north of Ao Nang.
Our first stop on the itinerary is the Krabi Elephant house sanctuary itself. Here we meet the elephant group leader: Thong and we get into our ‘clothes that can get dirty’. The sanctuary provides a comfortable suit you can wear during all the activities.

Krabi elephant sanctuary activities
At the elephant sanctuary we will do a number of activities. We walk the elephants to a pond close by first. Get close to them and lead them to the water, where they can drink and freshen up. We also prepare food and herbal medicine for the elephants here. They eat and drink a lot as you will see during your stay here. Herbal medicine is used in many ways and keeps the elephants healthy and strong. Some of them have been working in logging camps or were part of elephant trekking parks. In the sanctuary they are really being taken care of. This is the place where they can grow old in peace.
When the food is prepared, we feed the elephants together.
Elephant bathing & mud spa
Our last activities of the day include water: first we take them to a muddy pond where the elephants enjoy a mud spa. Here they can lie down and relax, while we play with them. After that it’s time for an elephant bath. Get into your bathing suit and jump in the water with the elephants. At the Krabi elephant house sanctuary you can wash them and just play with the water. This is an amazing activity for young and old!
After around 5 hours of elephant activities it’s unfortunately time to head back home. First you can take a shower at the sanctuary, followed by a transfer back to your hotel.
